ROM Manager Quattro

device

I’m really proud of ROM Manager 4! It’s the culmination/conglomeration of several projects:

  • ROM Manager now supports comments and ratings!
  • The service behind ROM Manager 4 is hosted on DeployFu.
  • Learned and wrote the service in ASP .NET MVC 3.
  • Finally got around to unsuckifying the ROM Manager UI.
  • WebConnect is no longer a useless chrome-to-phone downloader.
  • Paving the way for even bigger things to come… (hint: a website)

Grab ROM Manager on the Market or a direct download here!

CM7 can now be run from uSDHC on NookColor but backups get stored on internal memory so it doesn't work.

Anonymous said...

Got the premium license working on my Nook Color by clearing data/cache. Not sure what was going on... Probably had something to do with Rom Manager already being present on the system partition (it came with CM7). I installed *over the top* of the existing version instead of uninstalling the previous one this time. Everything is working properly.

(This is installed on internal memory, not running from an SD card)

I've paid for the pro version but I can't use the features after changing my rom and reinstalling the application.
Please check your mails between update releases...

After updating to 4.0, I can't seem to get the rom list anymore.
"Error occured processing the ROM list!" after clicking Download ROM.
Tested on Droid/Milestone, G2, HTC Hero, Desire HD, Google Nexus1 and Nexus S. Hope you get this fixed shortly, as I need to update my Desire and Heros to CM7 tonight.

I'm trying to transfer my paypal license to a new device and it won't accept my code. I tried the paypal transaction number and the RM transaction number and it still doesn't work. Is there a different code i'm missing? Or is it still not working right...it would be nice to get a return email from the developer!

I have a feature request.

A whole lot of ppl don't use RM to flash roms (including myself) because it doesn't give you an option to wipe Dalvik-Cache like it does data and cache. Could we make that an option when you flash from RM along with data & Cache and Backup? Just think it would increase the productivity and use of your app.

Thanks,

Love the app!
but...it does have a problem..
I am running GB 2.3.3 with D2 bootstrapper on my droid 2..
when I open rom manager and try to use it to create a backup it reboots the phone then gets stuck on the screen where the box is showing that it is trying to boot into clockworkmod but then hangs on that screen and you have a to pull the battery to fix. This also happens when you just try to use rom manager to just boot into recovery.

Just wanted to say thank you for everything you've done in making ROM Manager possible. I did purchase ROM Manager Premium, and I couldn't be happier with having all the freedom I have on my phone now.

Keep up the good work!

ive been waiting a week for koush to respond regarding bell galaxy tab support. what's he/she doing?

Anonymous said...

And you have a pay version?

The latest version is at least 3 0 2 8 is it not?

What a CON

Anonymous said...

There are different versions for different phones guy...the radiation getting to ya? How about a little respect for the developer! You have respect in Japan?

Koush said...

Wow people, don't be morons.

The recovery gets a new version every time I release for a new device or fix a bug that affects a specific device. I do not rerelease new versions of recoveries for ALL devices if only a specific device was affected.

That is why some phones are on recovery 2.5, while others are on 3.0. In particular, 3.0 introduced enhanced compatibility with a newer class of devices (emmc, bml, tablets), and the changes were not necessary for older devices.

All recovery versions have the same functionality, and all are fully compatible with ROM Manager.

Hi there,

thanks for the app. I have the following problem: After updating my phone (LG optimus 2x) to CM7 nightly, ROM Manager will overwrite my external SD with zeros when I try to flash, i.e. directory structure is still present, but all files are zeroed.
Cheers,
C

Anonymous said...

Hi, I am considering a purchase but I am not able to backup current ROM. Milestone 2 goes to restart. Any ideas? Tried flash Milestone-Droid2 no success.

csh said...

Short update on my earlier report: The sdcard problems only appear when formatting the card (SanDisk 32GB) from the Clockwork recovery console. The issues have resolved (fingers crossed) since I've formatted directly from Android (via "Erase SD card").
Suppose that I'm just muttering to myself since this blog is obviously not read by any developers?

Ray said...

ROM Manager 4.2.0.2 isn't working properly with LG-P999/TMO G2x: using "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" option from ROM manager doesn't properly complete the job (can only boot into recovery from ROM Manager, not from the CM7 Reboot menu, nor from the phone's hardware method [volumedown+power], but installing CWM via nvflash enables both of these options). This may also have caused the problem whereby I couldn't install CM7 from the "Download ROM" option, and could also be the source of csh's sdcard formatting issue, above. Also, it would be nice if CWM were able to mount and use the O2x/G2x's internal eMMC storage. With the exception of these issues (no complaints--this hardware was just released and I'm more reasonable than to expect 0-day perfection), I am satisfied with my investment in Premium.

csh said...

Can confirm Ray's issues on LG Optimus 2x (P990), UK version. Had to manually copy the zip to /sdcard from the adb shell for CWM recovery to find it.

Although I really like your app, I feel a little bit ripped off. The premium roms have never worked, and it was access to these that led me to give you money. I have spent considerable time searching the web and though lots of others report the same problem, I find no solution. Can you please provide some guidance on how to get a resolution for the problem?

Can u change "install ROM to SD" to "install ZIP to SD"? It obviously does more than that like adding app as system app, kernel script, etc w/out going into Recovery to do that.
I tweeted u abt this and I'm not sure if that was appropriate so I posted it here. THANKS.

Hey

Just wondering, will you ever add support to RomManager to take note of /system/etc/custom_backup_list.txt ?

Whenever flashing an updated nightly of CM7 via RM, it always ignores the custom_backup_list file, yet flashing directly via CWM doesn't ignore.

Cheers

Any other reports of the fix permissions function ceasing to work after the MR1 release for the HTC Thunderbolt? Yes, it's the rooted rom and yes it stopped being able to fix permissions after the update was applied. It stops at 124 of 258 .. at least on my TB it does.

Thanks for making the Samsung Galaxy S CyanogenMod nightlies available in the free!

Is it normal that i only get 2 Roms shown with my Hero?

CynogenMod Nighties
CyanogenMod?

If this would be all for the Hero than the RomManager has no need for me =/

Could you add support for cruz reader r101?

Malakai said...

Love this app.

Would love it more, if it provided a centralized way to give testing feedback to the build/developers.

For example, you try out your local Cyanogenmod nightly, and it has an issue, through RomManger you could send your logs or dumps or whatever. Maybe even from 'recovery' mode (write a file with the details, then when you restore your old backup that works, Rom Manger sees the file and sends it to the appropriate drop box for that build )

I downloaded rommngr a couple days ago, updated again today and it just doesn't work on my droid2. Clockwork has been flashed repeatedly and trying to backup just reboots and nothing else. Same with trying to load into CW recovery.

I'd pay for it if it worked, but it's doing nothing that it's supposed to do.

I have an SG2 and Galaxy tab 7 running Darky's Rom. both are of course Rooted. Theres a bug in ROM Manager if you change your LCD Density to below 200. on the SG2 i get perpetual reboot and on the galaxy tab a few reboots then it accepts my new density at 180.
On both devices you get an error that ROM Manager could not continue....then device restarts

I have a Droid 2 that I rooted a few months ago.
Just now getting comfortable to try a new ROM (downloaded Cyanogen mod from Premium options)
Every time i try to flash the ROM, it reboots back into the default ROM on the system. I also tried to get to the recovery mode and it does the same thing.
Am I missing something??
Even watched a video on youtube on how to do it and it still will not load.
